What can ROM2 Consulting Do?

Data Analysis and Conversion

Given data, we can help you formulate and answer questions for a longer term goal, such as retaining donations. We could also improve workflows of your charity’s data collection and processing: for example, if you have information stored in an excel file then we can determine if it would be easier to use a database that can then more easily curate information for your organization’s decision-making.

App and Software Design

Sometimes you may want to develop an app or software to augment a specific event; for example, if you are counting homeless populations can you use an app to scan and store faces? Can you simply rotate the camera to sweep the area and do part of the count for you? What are the privacy implications of this sort of result and how accurate could they be?

For charity events, we can help you explore apps and websites to make the experience more connected. For example, can you use a phone’s accelerometer to track and transmit steps during a walkathon? The goal for our consultant(s) is to determine whether such solutions are feasible and the relative expenses.

Data Science Liasoning

As ROM2 Consulting’s single member is involved in Rotary and different lower mainland universities, I may be able to connect you to a research partner that can help with a longer term project, for example developing online chatbots that help solicit donations or leveraging sentiment analysis to detect client moods to guide your staff’s interactions. I have worked with or have connections with internationally renowned researchers and data scientists at Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, and Trinity Western University and may be able to connect your organization to people that can develop more long-term, important research in data science. Ultimately, one of my goals is a more equitable data science community where data science benefits the larger community.

Machine Learning and Prediction

We can help you with developing mathematical models to better predict outcomes to help your non-profit. For example, we may use historical records to estimate what people are more likely to donate or predict what users are about to leave your services. I have been involved in major research projects with partners, including BC Hydro, related to safety and risk management and am involved in reviewing data science submissions at internationally renowned data science conferences.
